Class 8: Studio Time

Today, we had studio time to work on our Tutorials. Everything is due Class 10, oh noes! Anyways I worked on my Rotoscope animation with my own footage and I finished it. It's a dude who's robo dancing. I found it on Youtube, because I don't have my own video camera. I'm pretty confident that I can finish everything I need to do this weekend and then I can work on my actual animation. I'll upload the videos later tonight on my computer.

Class 7: I'm tired

So, I felt that this past weekend was horribly short. I know back in High School we had 5 day weeks, but SCAD has conditioned me to having 3 day weekends. I want another day =\

Oh well.

I finished the first part of the rotoscoping tutorial during the last class and over the weekend and that's pretty much all I could get to. Deadlines for my Electronic Cover Illustration Class are pretty hardcore, we're designing a cover to the next Sequential Art Anthology that our department annually produces. Our tight sketches were due yesterday.

I'm not sure what we're doing today, but I bet it'll involve some sort of good ol Flash Magic ooo. :D

I'd post what I've done so far, but I can't upload while I'm at Monty. It worked when I was at home actually.

I just worked on finishing my tutorials in class and our Prof. gave a lecture on importing Audio files in Flash and selecting Color Schemes in Flash as well. So far, I have the both ball bounces done, the Puppet Jump using the example, and the Rotoscope using the example. I need to do my own jump animation, my own Rotoscope, and the Walkcycle to be caught up. There also is the Lip sync tutorial, but he hasn't gone over that yet, so I guess I don't need to worry about that now.

Class 5 and 6:Time to play some catchup

So last class, we learned some stuff about Pixel ratios and NTSC stuff. I'm still a bit confused on it, but maybe I can ask some questions about it later. We also covered Rotoscoping for our newest Tutorial.

Lately, I've been working on my projects for my other classes. I have a cover due tomorrow for my Electronic Cover Illustration class and I'm gonna be working on that all tonight. Yesterday, I've worked on my Sea Creature for my Digital Form, Space and Lighting class. I'm a bit behind on this class, which I'm not proud of, but I'll definitely finish stuff over the weekend.

Here's some images of my Sea Creature for your viewing horro...pleasure.

Class 4: A good book to recommend huh?

...I can't think of any real books to recommend. I don't read often unfortunately. But I can recommend a magazine. I love reading those.

It's a magazine called ImagineFX. It's a really nice magazine about Sci-Fi and Fantasy Artwork that's done on the computer. They have great articles about how to use photoshop to work on skin/eyes/backgrounds/etc. It has a lot of concept artwork which is a big interest of mine.

Here's a link to the website if anyone is interested. http://www.imaginefx.com/

What we did on Class 4 was learning how to make a character jump in Flash. We had to use this weird clown dude for the tutorial. It was pretty simple to do. I'll upload it in a later post.

Class 3: Intro to Flash

Today, we had our first tutorial in Flash. Even though I don't know much about flash, it seems pretty easy to pick up. Since Adobe acquired Flash, it looks a lot like Adobe Illustrator, which I'm familiar with. We learned how to do the classic bouncing ball animation in flash using the Ease in/out sliders. I'm pretty confident that I know how to use what skills he's taught us so far. I've already completed the first version of the Ball bounce in class. Just a few tweaks or so to make it just right. I'll work on the 2nd later. I'm pretty interested in playing around with flash some more to see if I can do anything else with only what he taught us so far.

The Premise and Script

So, we're supposed to create a premise for a comedy sketch for our animation. I'm kind of unclear of how we're really supposed to present it. I knew we have to describe it, but I'm not sure if we had to include any images or anything. But, here goes.

It involves a character I've made for my previous Animation class and would like to include into this animation.

Basically, my animation will begin at a restaurant. It's fairly busy inside and business is going well for the restaurant. It will cut to various customers at their seats eating their food. All of a sudden, a shadow flashes by the screen. The customers' food suddenly disappear from their tables one by one. It's slowly revealed that the shadow is in the form of a girl.

It'll cut to the rooftop of the restaurant and you see that its a Ninja Girl, my character Anzu, happily eating all the loot she stole from the customers. A smoke cloud bursts out of nowhere near Anzu and it's her Ninja Master who appears to be angry with her. She's supposed to be on a mission and obviously she's taking an unnecessary break. It ends with her offering food to her master. After a moment, the Master reluctantly takes some food.

I suppose the punchline/premise is that even Experts aren't so professional all the time. I also liked my little Ninja Girl who's characteristic was that she's always seems to be hungry. I made her for my Animation I class, but I liked how she turned out and I want to see her animated in Flash. It's a simple premise, but in my head so far, it seems to be a good idea.

I suppose this also can serve as my Script. I don't I'm going to add any dialogue to it.

Class 2: Test Blog

This is one of my favorite Animations. It's not really an animation, but I just think it's really funny.

Here's an Image example, I like Street Fighter, this is Udon's collection of Artworks of Street Fighter. I own a copy and I love it.

Other than proving we know how to upload images and create links, we talked about vectors and looked through some sample works from previous classes. I also happened to play around with the Cintiq. Here's the doodle.

I really want a Cintiq.

My Sample Work

Here are a few things I've done in the past to show the kind of work I do.

This is a drawing I did for my Penciling and Inking 2 class. It was a submission for the Heroes Con Poster for the SCAD Sequential Art Department's workshop at the convention.

This is another image I did in my Penciling and Inking 2 class. This was also for another convention, ComicCon 2007. Apparently, it was used for the Convention Book that people received while attending the convention. It was the anniversary for Star Wars so they took in illustrations from people to feature in their convention book.

This is a project done in Animation I. It's my Emo bag, we had to do a Flour Bag that goes from emotion to another.

That's about it for now, I don't want to overload this post with tons of MBs worth of stuff.

Class 1: First Day

Well, here's my first post in the blog. So far, the class seems to be pretty cool. As of today, I don't know anything about flash. It's kinda intimidating since I have 3 studio classes this quarter, but our Professor said learning how to animate in flash would be fairly easy. It's going to be pretty interesting how far my skills in Flash will be at the end of the quarter. That's about it.
